I'm pretty fond of TED talks. Especially when there are videos such as this. I couldn't agree with this man more. My High School experience was one of conformity and suppression of individuality at best. Large high schools aren't all they're cracked up to be.
While not specifically relevant to music education, all educators have something to learn from this video. Though the system as a whole discourages creativity, we as educators can cultivate creativity within our own classrooms. (Or band halls.)
Not only does he have good points, but he's entertaining as well. Enjoy!
